In a dense Sausalito neighborhood, this 3400 square foot home carefully integrates with the hillside to maximize views of Alcatraz and the bay, while preserving surrounding view corridors. Upon entry, clerestory windows frame views across the canyon. A vertical fireplace hearth connects all three levels. Board formed concrete is used to establish a strong base that anchors the large expanses of glass and floating roof. Concrete is revealed throughout the house to highlight the means of hillside construction. The home’s windows are placed to allow natural light to flood the house while maintaining privacy.
